Mini sessions are where it's at.
But why? Well, 1. these sessions cost less than full sessions and clients can see if they enjoy the experience, 2. they are completely organized and planned by the photographer, so all the client has to do is show up, 3. they are shorter than a full session, which is perfect for little ones that may have a hard time staying focused for longer periods of time, and 4. the client gets professional photos with image quality you just can't get with a phone camera, delivered to them in a simple to use gallery.
This past month, I decided to put on Christmas Minis, a very popular kind of mini session that usually happens in November. It's a perfect opportunity to take some photos that could be used for Christmas cards!

Running mini sessions requires thinking months ahead. Picking a studio and booking the space, scheduling out timeslots to run the sessions, guiding clients on how to plan out their outfits to make sure there is a cohesive look between them and the studio space, and making sure reminder emails are sent out a few days before and the day of to remind clients of their time slot, where the studio is, how to get there, and where to park.
When you book a mini session, all of these things are taken care of for you. No need to worry about finding where you are going to take the pictures, no need to think ahead to plan a colour scheme for outfits, or be concerned that your family might not know how to pose or be comfortable enough while taking the photos to get those beautiful candid shots.
All of my clients get my really handy client guide which goes over how best to prepare for your session. It includes what to bring with you to make sure your little ones stay happy, styling tips, and even ready-to-go colour schemes with instructions on how to use those colours to build your outfits.
